Singing for Lung Health
James leads a Singing for Lung Health group, in partnership with Trinity Laban Conservatoire, for adults with respiratory illnesses. This work provides a model of patient-centred care in which participants are helped to manage their conditions through singing, movement, and mindfulness. Sessions began at Lewisham Hospital in 2019 and were delivered with the support of Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust. In response to the recent national lockdowns, these sessions now take place online.
James also leads projects for Trinity Laban’s Learning and Participation department. Many of these have involved collaborations with dance artists in local schools to create performances for the annual Lewisham Live festival.
James studied on Trinity Laban’s The Teaching Musician programme as a Headley Fellow, receiving an MA with Distinction in 2018.
